Editorial Policy

Birkenhead Finder aims to be inclusive, useful and locally aware. We connect services, places and people across the area while keeping each recommendation geographically precise. Local detail should help readers make a decision, not flatten distinct neighbourhoods into one generic place.

What we cover

We publish guides to local places and businesses, restaurants, shopping, attractions, leisure activities and essential services. We select neighbourhoods, institutions and landmarks according to the reader’s question and the actual location concerned.

Birkenhead, the Wirral and across the Mersey

Birkenhead is a town on the Wirral Peninsula, within the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral. Oxton, Claughton, Tranmere, Rock Ferry, Prenton, Bidston and Seacombe have different local contexts. Wallasey lies to the north and Bebington to the south; Liverpool is across the River Mersey. We do not describe these places as interchangeable neighbourhoods of central Birkenhead.

We identify attractions by their actual locations: Birkenhead Priory, Birkenhead Park, Future Yard and the Williamson Art Gallery and Museum are local Birkenhead references; Liverpool Waterfront is across the river. Wirral Country Park serves a wider Wirral itinerary rather than a central Birkenhead visit. We distinguish the Queensway Tunnel connection with Birkenhead from the Kingsway Tunnel connection associated with Wallasey.

Sources and current details

We aim to use reliable sources close to the subject, such as Wirral Council, the business, venue, event organiser, transport operator or public service concerned. Business status, opening hours, tenants, transport routes, ferry operations, event programmes, visitor access and regeneration projects can change. We check current details where practical and encourage readers to confirm important information directly.

We do not invent businesses, addresses, reviews, statistics, prices, dates or service coverage. We distinguish completed developments from proposals and plans, and do not imply public access to restricted sites. We avoid unsupported claims about crime, property prices, flood risk, specific wildlife sightings or individual communities.

Recommendations and commercial relationships

A listing or recommendation is not automatically paid for or endorsed. If content is sponsored or has another commercial relationship, we will identify it clearly. Commercial arrangements do not in themselves determine our editorial view. Our guides help readers compare information but do not guarantee that a particular option is right for everyone.

Corrections and updates

If you spot an error, email [email protected] with the page address, the detail in question and, if possible, a reliable source. We review correction requests and update material errors where appropriate. Minor edits may be made without a separate note; for a substantial correction, we may add an editorial note to the page.

A request from a business or individual does not automatically require us to remove content. We consider accuracy, relevance, privacy, safety and the public interest. We do not publish private personal information or unverified allegations about individuals.

Scope and limitations

Our guides are selective, not a complete directory of every business, service, attraction or event in Birkenhead or Wirral. Inclusion does not guarantee quality or availability, and absence does not imply criticism. Please confirm important details with the organisation concerned.
